A face for Radio - Dubai Eye

Nicky Fitness meets Dubai Eye Radio

On Thursday 2nd November, Nicky Fitness was invited as special guest, live on air at Dubai Eye 103.8 FM Radio.

Every weekday 7.00-9.00pm there is a Sports show called 'Sport Tonight', with presenters Robbie Greenwood and Chris McHardy.

Nicky Fitness was invited to talk about Fitness in Dubai, the current challenges people face with exercise and the Dubai Fitness Challenge.

What did I miss?

The main message during the show which we wanted to deliver was that

'Exercise can be fun'

You don't have to go to the gym, run on a treadmill or pick up weights. You can simply, exercise in other ways, to take part in 30x30.

For example, go for a walk around the Mall or along the beach. Cycle Al Qudra or Dubai Autodrome. Play Volleyball or go Paddleboarding with friends.

There are many different ways which you can be active.

Finding something you like, which will keep you interested. With that in mind, you are more likely to keep exercising regularly and it becomes sustainable.

Speak to your friends or meet new friends as social interaction is a big part of sport and exercise. Think about the sports you use to do as a child or use to watch on TV. Then go ahead and do it!!

What is needed in Dubai?

When in the studio, I was a little apprehensive about going live on air. I sat in a chair and listened to the other topics that were being discussed.

During the show, I was asked what is needed in Dubai?

Personally, I believe Dubai needs consistency. It has variety, it has facilities, it has wealth.

In order to make Dubai and the other Emirates of the UAE more active, you need to make exercising, a Lifestyle change.

Many people fear change and stepping out of their comfort zone. But when it comes to health, that needs to be the priority and the fear of being unhealthy or ill is enough motivation to get up and do something!

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, is pushing the 30/30 campaign which is running from 20th October to 18th November.

30 minutes of exercise for 30 days for the Dubai Fitness Challenge. Free access to gyms, exercise classes, sports events, games and fitness workshops are available across the City, in order to get people physically active.

However, all this needs to be continued. Talking about being continued, Nicky Fitness is hoping to have a bi-weekly appearance on the radio to help inspire and motivate the people of the UAE, to be fitter, stronger and healthier.
